Egyptian dancers enthral Lucknowites
The Cairo Ballet Company of Egypt on their maiden visit to the city presented a plethora of cultural activities including Pharaonic ballet, dance-drama episodes based on Egyptian folklore and much more.
The programme organised by The Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) in collaboration with University of Lucknow, was staged at the auditorium of Faculty of Engineering & Technology, University of Lucknow.
Speaking on the occasion, Arvind Kumar, regional director ICCR, says, “Such programmes are aimed to enrich cultural traditions and friendly ties. The sole purpose was to come together and create something truly magical for the people of the city.” The 22 performers dressed in vibrant attire, presented dance moves that left the students and faculty of Lucknow University spellbound.
Safwat M F Abdelghany was the artistic director and the mind behind the presentation for the evening. He said, “Our team of young* performers is extremely excited to be in India and perform in the City of the Nawabs. Hope we are able to give back all the love and affection we have earned here.”
LU’s director of international collaborations and international student advisor, Prof RP Singh, says, “Culture has its own magic and wins hearts in better ways than other diplomatic pathways. Events like these strengthen the bond between two countries. This group is known globally for their performances and presentations. They were in India for over a week and performed in various cities, including Lucknow.”
