Kathak, laughs and tickles

he city recently witnessed a double dose of cultural presentati­ons at Buddha Research Centre, Gomti Nagar. Organised by FICCI FLO Lucknow Chapter, the evening saw a fun drama titled along with a Kathak presentati­on by the citybased Indian classical artiste Kantika Mishra and her group.

Daughter of late Kathak maestro Pandit Arjun Mishra, the award-winning dancer presented three different acts based on the dance form.

“Performing in my hometown is always special and and since Kathak is Lucknow’s heritage art so people here relate with it really well,” said Mishra.

The dance recital was followed by a drama act staged by artistes from the organisati­on. Written by Dr Rishad Rizvi and directed by Mohammad Rashid, the play was a humorous take on the day-to-day issues faced by the modern women. The storyline made the audience aware of the pertaining issues while connecting with the comical angle of the drama.

Talking about the play, Rashid said, “The story is simple yet contempora­ry, and that’s one of the reasons why it related with those present in the audience.”

The drama was presided over by Vani Anand and featured by members like Pooja Garg, Pooja Ghai, Manisha Ladhani, Anandi Aggarwal, Pragya Aggarwal and Parul Bhugra. Surbhi Modi Sahay played the role of the narrator.

The event was chaired by Swati Verma and the others in attendance were Madhuri Halwasiya, Vibha Aggarwal, Vandita Agarwal, Simran Sahni, Jyotsna Habibullah, Smriti Garg, Swati Mohan, Vanita Yadav, Smriti Garg and Shama Gupta along with 100 members and other guests.
