76 MEDALS, 765 DEGREES GIVEN
The university felicitated students of the previous two academic sessions -- 2010-11 and 2011-12. A total of 76 medals and 765 degrees were given to the students. The President congratulated the achievers and asked them to make good use of the opportunity that lay ahead of them.
HONORIS CAUSA DEGREE
The BBAU conferred the Honoris Causa degree on Justice JS Verma posthumously. His granddaughter, Preetika Mathur, collected the citation from the President. It was a touching moment for her. Justice Verma had passed away recently.
V-C SEEKS CM’S HELP
BBAU vice-chancellor RC Sobti sought chief minister Akhilesh Yadav’s help to improve facilities at the university. Despite the Ambedkar University being a Central university, the V-C sought financial help from Yadav who assured all help.
FEW PROTESTS
At least three students of the university registered protest with the chancellor, as their names were not announced for medals. The students said they were eligible for medals, but the varsity did not invite them. BBAU officials remained mute when asked to comment on the issue.
EXPAND PVT HEALTHCARE
The President, while addressing students at the GSVM Medical College, Kanpur, convocation, emphasised on the importance of good health for citizens to be able to realise their potential and said there was a need to provide cheap and easily accessible health services to the people of the country, for which private healthcare companies should be encouraged to spread their network across India.

CONCEPT
The Ambedkar University is keen to convert polytechnic colleges into community colleges so that vocational courses could be run here.
