AIDWA STAGES PROTEST, SEEKS JUSTICE

-

LUCKNOW: Volunteers of All India Democratic Women’’s Association (AIDWA) staged a demonstration from Chinhat to Matiyari crossing and blocked the road, demanding justice for the fouryear-old who was brutally raped and murdered in Gomti Nagar.

The activists submitted a memorandum to the SSP demanding that the perpetrators of the barbaric act be hunted out arrested at the earliest.

The activists, along with women of the slum where the victim’s relatives live, also demanded action against sub-inspector R Vikram and SO Devendra Dubey of Gomti Nagar police station for their alleged negligence in the case.

State secretary AIDWA Madhu Garg said, “The officers tried to dismiss the case. They even motivated the victim’s family not to get the post mortem examination done, just to hush up the matter.”

In addition to compensation for the victim’s family, the activists also demanded some safe shelter for pavement dwellers.

The women raised slogans and alleged that it was often seen that police were very insensitive in cases against women. There had been numerous instances in the past where cases of rape and murder of women had not been registered by the police and later on, when post mortem examinations were carried out, after exhuming the bodies, the truth emerged, they said.
