LONDON: Wimbledon champion Andy Murray is reportedly set to appear in the 75th anniversar­y issue of The Beano comic.

Murray, the first British man to win at the All England Club in 77 years, has appeared in the comic before his triumph on Sunday. According to a report, the Scot faces off against a tomboyish character in the comic, Minnie the Minx, on the court in the edition, which goes on sale on July 24. Stating that they had always planned to include the British No 1 in the issue, the comic’s editor Craig Graham said that they have now re-worked the strip to reflect his historic win at the Wimbledon, adding that he hoped that Murray and their readers liked this special issue. MURRAY ON A PLATE! LONDON: A Manchester eatery has come up with a Scottishth­emed burger to celebrate Murray’s historic victory.

The famous restaurant, SoLIta Bar and Grill, makes the gourmet feat with deep fried haggis, bacon, Monterey Jock cheese and whiskey BBQ sauce.

The burger, usually made from Cheshire beef, is ground Aberdeen Angus beef and topped with whiskey and Irn Bru sauce. Franco Sutgiu, coowner of the restaurant, which tries to add a new burger creation to the menu every week with links to current news stories, came up with the idea.
