LU WARNS 28 DEGREE COLLEGES TO IMPROVE INFRASTRUCTURE OR LOSE AFFILIATION
LUCKNOW: The Lucknow University has threatened to disaffiliate 28 private degree colleges if they fail to improve their faculty strength and upgrade infrastructure.
The colleges, which were under temporary affiliation earlier this year, have been given October 31 deadline to overcome the shortcomings.
The varsity rap had left all the 28 colleges panicky, who were now engaged in a cover up mission, sources said.
It may be mentioned that though a high power committee of the university had found these colleges wanting in basic facilities, like insufficient classroom, proper library and toilets, it had allowed the colleges to enroll students to different undergraduate courses.
Notably, the panel had also expressed dissatisfaction with the pool of teachers, as many colleges had recruited teachers who did not meet UGC requirements.
The office of the registrar has now issued a circular to all the 28 colleges, saying that the university administration had already given these colleges enough time to consolidate their infrastructure and other basic amenities. “In their greed to maximise profit, the colleges did not invest on college development work. But the university has now decided that students will not be allowed to suffer from next academic session,” an official said.
