15 teams to take part in Unity Trophy cricket

LUCKNOW: Around 15 teams, including a number of teams of different academies, would be participat­ing in the Unity Trophy Cricket Tourn - ament, beginning July 22 here.

Teams like Avadh Cricket Academy, Jubilee Cricket Academy, Manchester Cricket Club, Yorker Cricket Club, Abhijeet Sinha Cricket Academy, Trans Gomti Cricket Academy, hosts Lucknow Cricket Academy, National Youngster Club, Northern Railway Cricket Academy, UP Timber Cricket Academy, Sports College, LRC Club etc. have confirmed their participat­ion in the event, which would be played on a league-cum-knockout basis. The final is slated for July 30. EASY VICTORY Annapurna Club scored an easy 74- run win against Sherwood Cricket Club in a league match of the State Twenty20 Cricket Tournament, at the Northern Railway stadium here on Friday. In other match of the day, Yorkar Club trounced Lucknow White by nine wickets.

BRIEF SCORES Annapurna Club 98 in 19.3 overs (Raj Sonker 28, Narayan 24, Mahaveer 3 for 16, Girjesh Yadav 2 for 14) beat Sherwood Club 24 in 10.5 overs (Saif 4 for 9, Chandan Mullick 3 for 3, Harsh 2 for 10).

Lucknow White 31 in 11.2 overs (Parvez 3 for 6, Rahul Singh 2 for 3) lost to Yorkar Club 35 for 1 in 6.2 overs (Atul Singh 17*). SELECTED Uttar Pradesh’s Sanjeev Sahu and Siddarth Shukla have been chosen in the 12-member Indian squad for the World Kung Fu Championsh­ip to be held from July 16 to 20 in Beijing. Besides them, Lucknow’s Gyan Prakash Tripathi has been named team coach.
