‘Let forensic expert help’

-

LUCKNOW: Neeta Khanna, sister of Ritu Kapoor who died of insulin overdose on May 24, 2012, has demanded that the team investigating the case be given the services of a forensic expert too.

Neeta has based her demand on the fact that FIR in the case could be filed only on February 22, 2013 --roughly nine months after the death and five months after forensic report came in September 2012. “The probe hasn’t moved any fur- ther even though a year has elapsed since my sister died,” Neeta wrote in her letter to the home department.

Ritu’s death was one of the rarest cases of insulin related death (the first such one in UP). Hence, the blood sample from the cadaver (body) was examined by a team of forensic experts who had said external infusion of overdose could not be ruled out.

The home department has asked the Lucknow SSP to speed up the probe.
