Wonderful world of words

- Rajyogi Brahmakumar Nikunjji letters@hindustantimes.com

Since childhood we have been taught by our teachers, parents and gurus that ‘words once spoken can never be recalled’. Hence, one must always think twice before speaking. Our lives are nothing without ‘words’. They are all around us. We see them. We use them for different purpose and reasons.

There are harsh words, soothing words, biting words, sweet words, words that give pain and sorrow; words that give joy and pleasure. They are vital to communication. When words are spoken there are reactions, negative or positive, through which further thoughts are triggered or emotions are fired or

actions are performed around. Words actually colour our behaviour. Majority of us love to hear words that are calm and free from anger and aggression, that lift our soul and leave it with renewed vigour.

It is very important to remind ourselves that our speech indicates what is in our mind. As is our thinking, so are the words uttered through the mouth. Mental calmness cools down our thought process and makes our words calm. A pure mind makes way for pure words. It is said that speech may exalt someone to kingship or send him to the gallows. Hence, one should never let oneself indulge in false, bitter and vicious thinking and speech. Our words should always reflect our true, inner nature, which is that of purity and peace, creating an overall environment of peace and harmony within the society we live in to spread joy and happiness. Remember, the human mind is so powerful that we become what we speak. Hence slow down, think for a while before you speak out.
