LUCKNOW: Experienced do make a difference and in the game of chess, one’s success depends on his or her patience and calculative moves. Women International Master Lvana Maria Furtado of Goa never looked in a hurry against Women FIDE Master Rucha Pujari and it paid rich dividends to her.
She settled for a draw in the seventh round to share the top position with another WFM M Mahalakshmi off Tamil Nadu in the Junior National Under-19 Chess Championship here on Sunday. Both have six points each.
Pujari with 5.5 points was j oint third with Shetty J Shristi, P Catherina Michelle and WFM J Saranya. Other WFM GK Monnisha of Tamil Nadu, who defeated Sweta Gole of Maharashtra was at the joint fourth with Bodda Pratyusha of Andhra Pradesh as the two had five points each at the end of the seventh round.
FIDE Master Sayantan Das of West Bengal defeated P Lokesh of Tamil Nadu to lead the table with 6.5 points in the boys section. He was followed by FM Vr Aravindh Chithambaram of Tamil Nadu, who shared the second spot with Nr Visakh of Tamil Nadu.
In other important matches of the day, International Master Prasanna Raghuram Rao from Maharashtra settled for a draw with Gireman Ja of Tamil Nadu, where as Delhi’s Prince Bajaj too split points with Sunilduth Lyna Narayanan of Karnataka by playing a draw.
Day four brought some cheers on the faces of the hosts players as Shivani Sharma beat Aditi Navneet Patial from Himachal Pradesh, Ayushi Jaiswal beat Orissa’s Panda Pratyusha, Sanskriti Goyal beat Kajal Jagroshan from Punjab, Radhika Garg beat G oa’s Nandhini Saripalli in the girls category.
In the boys section Atul Kumar beat Manan Rai of Delhi, Ayush Panday beat Haryana’s Jatin Panwar, Udit Raj Saxena beat Andhra Pradesh’s Ankit Kundra, Lawanya Eshan beat state mate Vatsal Bora.
