RUCKUS AT BALRAMPUR HOSPITAL AFTER PATIENT’S DEATH

LUCKNOW: Relatives of a patient who died at Balrampur hospital on Tuesday, created a ruckus at the hospital, accusing the doctors of medical negligence. Alok Tripathi, 39, was under the care of Dr RN Mishra in ward number 2 for stomach ache. He was admitted on Sunday. But on Monday, his condition deteriorat­ed and he was advised MRI by Dr Mishra from a private diagnostic centre. The MRI was done, but the doctor allegedly did not read the report and went home, said sources. Alok’s relatives alleged that on Tuesday, despite repeated requests of the attendants, the doctor never turned up to see the patient. In the evening around 5pm, Alok died. Sources say, the doctor on duty, Dr HG Singh, was also not cooperativ­e with the attendants. After the death of Alok, his relatives assembled at the hospital and started raising slogans against the doctor. “Had Alok got treatment, he would have survived,” said one of his attendants. Chief medical superinten­dent Dr UN Rai tried to console the agitated crowd. He said if the relatives want a probe into the death then it could be done, but for that the body would have to be sent for post mortem. The relatives of the deceased staged a sit-in in front of the hospital with the body till 9pm. They took way the body only after they were assured that an inquiry into the case would be conducted. CMS Balrampur, Dr UN Rai, said, “An inquiry would be conducted to find out the reasons behind the death.”
