Inter-school swimming c’ship starts today

LUCKNOW: Swimmers from top 10 schools of the city would be seen vying for honours in the 4th Inter-School Swimming Championsh­ip beginning at Study Hall School on Friday.

The two-day event featu res competitio­ns in under12, under-14 and under-16 categories for both boys and girls. The participat­ing teams are La Martiniere College, Seth MR Jaipuria School, Lucknow Public Collegiate, Shri Ramswaroop School, St Francis College, St Fidelis College, Vibgyor Internatio­nal School, Prerna School and hosts Study Hall School. MANISH SIZZLES Manish Singh wreaked havoc, claiming 6/13 to script Lucknow Cricket Academy (LCA)’s 77 runs win over Safipur Cricket Club (SCC) in a match of Sunday Cricket League, at the KGMU ground on Thursday.

Batting first, LCA posted 103/4 in the stipulated 35 overs with Yash top scoring with a gritty knock of 35.

Despite faced with a mod- erate target, SCC were never in contention for the win as they were blown away by a fiery spell of 6/13 by Manish Singh. MIX HOCKEY Lucknow Veterans beat Hostel Girls 3-2 in the inaugural match of Shambhu Nath Kapoor Memorial Mix Hockey Tournament, at the KD Singh Babu Stadium.

Rashid put Veterans ahead in the 6th minute before Syed Ali made it 2-0 for them in 10th minute. Veterans took a lead of 3-0 courtesy a strike from Devender in the 38th minute.

Hostel Girls opened their account finally in the 47th minute through an own goal from Veterans. In the 55th minute, Komal Sahni converted a penalty corner into goal to give Hostel Girls a semblance of chance to make a comeback.

However, no further goal could be scored as Veterans emerged triumphant 3-2.
