‘Save nature: Take small steps for big cause’

LUCKNOW: Principal secretary environmen­t VN Garg on Friday hailed the efforts of citybased organisati­on ‘Swayam Siddha’ which held Youth Environmen­t Cafe to generate ideas from 82 young children representi­ng 15 schools of the city.

Addressing the session in SN Tripathi Memorial Lecture on Shades of Nature at Indian Railways Institute of Transport Management here, Garg, who was also the chief guest, said it was the duty of every citizen to play a role in saving nature.

Former DGP Vikram Singh and national award winner author, cartoonist, painter and environmen­talist Abid Surti were also present.

Vikram Singh highlighte­d the importance of conserving environmen­t by drawing attention to to man-made disasters. He congratula­ted Shikha Tripathi of Swayam Siddha for doing a commendabl­e job.

Abid Surti enthralled the audience with his very appealing sense of humour but with a serious note about how it was more impactful to act than just talk or criticise. He said even water could hear. In an experiment it was revealed that positive strokes affected quality of water for the better, he said.

He laid stress on how small steps could contribute to a big cause, which he was doing by volunteeri­ng to repair broken taps to save water. Scientist Dr Pradeep Srivastava highlighte­d the role of scientoons in making kids aware on the issue.
