‘Save nature: Take small steps for big cause’
LUCKNOW: Principal secretary environment VN Garg on Friday hailed the efforts of citybased organisation ‘Swayam Siddha’ which held Youth Environment Cafe to generate ideas from 82 young children representing 15 schools of the city.
Addressing the session in SN Tripathi Memorial Lecture on Shades of Nature at Indian Railways Institute of Transport Management here, Garg, who was also the chief guest, said it was the duty of every citizen to play a role in saving nature.
Former DGP Vikram Singh and national award winner author, cartoonist, painter and environmentalist Abid Surti were also present.
Vikram Singh highlighted the importance of conserving environment by drawing attention to to man-made disasters. He congratulated Shikha Tripathi of Swayam Siddha for doing a commendable job.
Abid Surti enthralled the audience with his very appealing sense of humour but with a serious note about how it was more impactful to act than just talk or criticise. He said even water could hear. In an experiment it was revealed that positive strokes affected quality of water for the better, he said.
He laid stress on how small steps could contribute to a big cause, which he was doing by volunteering to repair broken taps to save water. Scientist Dr Pradeep Srivastava highlighted the role of scientoons in making kids aware on the issue.
