State ranking table tennis tourney from today
LUCKNOW: About 300 paddlers from across the state would be seen vying for top honours in the 1st Avinash Chandra Chaturvedi Memorial UP State Ranking Table Tennis Tournament beginning at table tennis complex of Uttar Pradesh Table Tennis Academy here on Saturday.
The three-day event, which carries prize money of Rs 20,000, features competitions in different categories, viz men’s singles, women’s singles, youth boy’s singles, youth girl’s singles, sub-junior boy’s singles, subjunior girl’s singles, cadet boy’s singles and cadet girl’s singles. Near about 225 matches will be played during a day. SEEDINGS Men’s singles: 1-Atin Rastogi (Lucknow), 2-Anil Sen (Moradabad), 3-Abhishek Raj (Agra), 4-Swarn Singh Thakur (Jhansi).

NEHRU HOCKEY Lucknow district’s team was declared winner of InterDistrict Junior and Sub-Junior Hockey Tournament after teams from other districts failed to turn up for the event at National Inter College ground on Friday. KARATE C’SHIP About 120 players from different districts of the state will get an opportunity to showcase their skills in the Medhaj Cup Karate Championship, to be held at Hotel Piccadelly on Sunday.
Training camp for t he event started at Multi Activity Centre on Friday under the wing of Shihan P aramjeet Singh, a judge of World Karate Federation.
