A HISTORY OF VIOLENCE
Almost a third of his career races have failed to last the distance. Here’s a recap
2009 EUROPEAN GP
In his debut at the 2009 European GP, he tapped the fast-starting Luca Badoer into a spin on the first lap, and required a nosecone change for his troubles.
2009 Belgian GP
In the following race, the Belgian GP, having barged into Sebastien Buemi and Lewis Hamilton going into La Source, he proceeded to knock himself and Jenson Button out at Les Combes.
2012 Australian GP
On his return to F1 in Melbourne last year, he was hit by Pastor Maldonado as the Williams was passing him on lap 2, breaking his front right suspension.
2012 Malaysian GP
In Malaysia, he looped Michael Schumacher whilst half-spinning himself (before ending up in the gravel trap on the next lap anyway).
2012 Spanish GP
At Catalonia, after Sergio Perez squeezed past him going into turn two, he hit the Sauber with his front wing and gave the Mexican a puncture.
2012 Monaco GP
At Monaco, he was caught out by the Ferraris on the run to Ste Devote, pinballed into Schumacher and the armco and found himself broadside to traffic, and it was amazing that only Kamui Kobayashi didn’t manage to avoid him.
2012 British GP
Grosjean repeated the Perez trick from Spain, this time on Paul Di Resta and requiring a nosecone change for himself.
2012 German GP
In Germany, he hit the back of Felipe Massa after the Brazilian had slowed due to his own earlier collision, and yet again Romain required facial repairs.
2012 Belgian GP
Then in Belgium of course he triggered that massive collision with Hamilton, Fernando Alonso and Perez that sidelined him for a race.
2012 Japanese GP
At Suzuka he T-boned Webber going into turn 2.
2013 Monaco GP
The erratic Frenchman sparked another spectacular incident when he ran into the back of Ricciardo’s Toro Rosso, ruining both drivers’ race. Grosjean was hit with a 10-place grid penalty for the next race, Canadian GP.
