Jayant skirts security net, meets riot-hit
Giving a slip to the state police and administration, Rashtriya Lok Dal general secretary Jayant Chaudhary on Friday managed to interact with riot-affected families who lost their members in the violence, in three villages of Meerut district.
When officials came to know about his visit, they stopped him near Jani village and forced him to go back without visiting another affected family in Behrampur.
Jayant Chaudhary started his ‘secret journey’ early in the morning from Delhi without informing party workers, nor seeking security, said sources. He first visited More Khurd village and interacted with two youths who lost their father on September 7.
Thereafter, he went to adjoining village Mohammadpur Shikast and met the kids who lost their father in the violence while returning from the Mahapanchayat.
Jayant then proceeded to Niloha village and met a septuagenarian whose grandson was killed on September 8 in the village.
The old man broke down in front of the leader. While interacting with a gathering at a place of worship in the village, Jayant called upon the villagers to stay united and send a strong message of peace and reconciliation to the community.
Lashing out at the state gov- ernment for inaction, he insisted that his party and followers would not let the villages fall apart.
The leader was, however, disappointed when he was stopped from visiting an aggrieved family in Behrampur and the police forced him to go back. On Thursday, Chaudhary’s father Ajit Singh was detained in Loni area by the Ghaziabad police while on his way to Baghpat.
