Paddler Akriti’s tryst with success continues
LUCKNOW: Young Akriti Srivastava is fast emerging as a force to reckon with in the domestic circuit of table tennis. The 11-year paddler added another feather in her cap when she clinched a golden double in recently concluded State Women’s Table Tennis Championship in Varanasi.
A student of city-based Vishwanath Academy, Akriti downed local girl Varsha Sonkar 11-8, 11-7, 11-2 to clinch girl’s singles crown before pairing with Deeksha Dhurvansh to beat the pair of Varsha Sonkar and Vaishali Srivastava 11-9, 11-8, 9-11, 11-8 to bag girl’s doubles title at the Sigra Stadium.
During her short career of two-year in professional table tennis, Akriti has won a number of prestigious events so far including UP Inter-School Tournament in 2011, Under-12 UP Cup in 2012, and women festival tournament in 2013. She was also the state champion in under-12 category in 2012.

The Ram Murtiji Memorial 2nd UP State ranking table tennis tournament will be held at Sri Ram Murti Smarak College of Engineering and Technology, at Bareilly from Saturday. The three-day tournament offers Rs 50000 as cash award.
