Sacred Heart, BSC register big wins in DFL

Sacred Heart and Boy’s Sports Company registered emphatic wins on the second day of District Football League, at the Chowk Stadium here on Thursday.

While Sacred Heart blanked out Avadh Club 3-0, Boy’s Sports Company (BSC) drubbed Aliganj Sporting 7-1. Sacred Heart’s win was scripted Vivek, Bhojraj and Harneder who all scored a goal each.

In BSC’s victory, Ashish and Rakesh scored a brace of goals each while Shivesh Bhatia, Bhanu and Swapan accounted for one goal each.

SCHOOL BASKETBALL

Hosts Lucknow embarked on their campaign in State School Basketball Championsh­ip on a winning note. While their under-19 team beat Kanpur 23-16, the under-14 side thrashed Allahabad 15-3.

LEAGUE POSTPONED

In view of ongoing rainy season, Cricket Associatio­n of Lucknow on Thursday postponed remaining matches of Banarasi Das A Division League till further notice. The fresh schedule of matches would be announced next month.

SP IN GRADE A

City-based scorer Shailendra Pratap Singh on Thursday made it to BCCI’s Grade A panel of scorers. Singh is the only scorer from Uttar Pradesh to achieve this feat.

Singh was elevated from Grade B to Grade A on the basis of his outstandin­g performanc­e in the BCCI-conducted scorers’ held in Nagpur on August 16 and 17.

UPCA has now four scorers in BCCI panel with Ramji Tiwari (Kanpur), Akhilesh Tripathi (Allahabad) and Prashant Chaturvedi making it to Grade B.

During his l ong career, Shailendra has done scoring duty in nearly 100 domestic matches including Ranji trophy and Duleep trophy finals.

He has also been in charge of scoring duty in two Test and two ODI matches.
