Venom in their hearts shows in their speeches: Akhilesh

-

Reacting to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Uttar Pradesh incharge Amit Shah’s ‘communal barbs’, chief minister and Samajwadi Party state president Akhiesh Yadav on Sunday said the venom they had in their hearts had begun showing in their speeches too

Responding to questions at a press conference, he said that a big political struggle was on in the country and UP was its biggest battleground. “In its bid to win more seats, the kind of money BJP is spending would trigger a new kind of competition amongst political parities,” he said.

“Modi they say is a very good event manager. While we are ahead in work, we lag in publicity. Can BJP give more to UP than what we have already given. We did some very basics for the people of the state. We have returned people’s money to people,” said Akhilesh.

“Infosys and HCL coming to UP is a big comment on UP’s law and order. Did Infosys or HCL go to Gujarat? No, they have come to UP,” he said.

Bollywood actress and Congress candidate Morarji Nagma Arvind has infused a new vigour into the Congress campaign with her relentless efforts to connect with the voters.

Her road shows and door to door campaigns are drawing big crowds but it is yet to be seen whether they will convert into votes in her favour on the day of the election. Nagma arrived here a day before Holi and since then, she has been working hard to woo voters in her constituency. Undoubtedly, glam quotient is also a plus for her, as celebstruck people flock to catch a glimpse of the actress.

During convassing, she tries to mix with the locals, especially women and young voters, reminding them that only the Congress has the potential to push the area on the path of progress. She talks about the First War Of Independence which broke out from the city in 1857 and promises to restore the city’s glory by establishing monuments and other symbols of pride.

During her campaign in the rural areas, Nagma seldom forgets to mention that the Centre had waived off

loans worth R 6600 crore of farmers and stresses that she will ensure that benefits of such government schemes reach the actual beneficiaries.

The actress is banking on Muslim, Jat and cadre votes of Congress along with young voters and women. She believes that her fight is with the BJP because she belongs to a party which has always fought against communal forces. But infighting in her own party is also a big challenge for her which may hamper her success.

Nagma will face BJP candidate and sitting MP Rajendra Agarwal whose supporters are banking on the party’s victory through division of Muslim votes and are hopeful that Hindus are likely to rally behind the party under ‘ Modi wave’. The Samajwadi Party has fielded cabinet minister Shahid Manzoor while the BSP has given ticket to former MP Shahid Akhlaq. The presence of these two Muslim candidates in the fray has brought smiles back on the faces of saffron party supporters who anticipate it will trigger a division in Muslim votes and a plausible drift of Dalit voters towards BJP under ‘Modi wave’.

Maj Himanshu is the AAP candidate, contesting on issues of nailing corruption and providing a clean government to the nation. He has a support base among the educated class who believes in the ideology of AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal and his team.
