Bar Mulayam from contesting polls: BJP
The BJP has demanded the Election Commission to debar Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Mulayam Singh Yadav from contesting the current Lok Sabha election for his pro-rapists remark.
The party has also appealed to female voters to vote for any party but the SP for the utter disrespect and insensitivity the party head had shown to women that comprise 50 per cent of the country’s population.
Talking to mediapersons at party headquarters here on Friday, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state president. Laxmi Kant Bajpayee said that a delegation led by him met chief electoral officer Umesh Sinha and handed over a memorandum demanding disqualification of Yadav from contesting the election for his objectionable remark, wherein he advocated against death penalty to rapists saying ‘boys sometimes did err.’
Meanwhile, the BJP also said that Election Commission’s action against party’s UP incharge Amit Shah was beyond comprehension. “Shah never did or said anything that should have prompted the EC to act against him in a manner it had,” BJP spokesman, Vijay Bahadur Pathak said. On the other hand, the Congress party had welcomed the EC’s action against both Amit Shah and Azam Khan. RLD FLAYS REMARK
The Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) too condemned Mulayam Singh’s remark. In a statement, RLD state president, Munna Singh Chauhan, on Friday, said that Mulayam’s remark was ‘very unfortunate.’
