Candidates take a break, relax after days of campaigning

-

They were literally on their toes for the past many days and soon after voting ended in the city, candidates heaved a sigh of relief as they spent time with their families and friends.

AAP candidate Ashutosh who had fallen ill on the last day of campaigning has been advised rest. “I woke up slightly late as I was exhausted after the intense campaigning. I am a big movie buff but had not seen a movie for the past 50 days so I watched a movie too ,” he said.

Next week, Ashutosh will be heading to Varanasi and Amethi to campaign for the party.

For Delhi BJP chief Harsh Vardhan, though the hectic schedule came to an end, he had to attend a BJP meeting held on Friday.

The BJP’s West Delhi candidate Pravesh Verma spent time with his family and will be heading to Punjab for campaigning. He is not the only one, a number of senior BJP leaders, media in-charge and convenors are also going to Punjab and Uttar Pradesh.

After a hectic schedule for the last 15-16 days, the BJP’s North West Delhi candidate Udit Raj woke up late around 9am. “Today I spent quality time with my wife and other family members,” Raj said.

Not much had changed for Mahabal Mishra, a Congress candidate from West Delhi as he started his day at 7 am and met party workers to analyse the voting pattern. However, he did have lunch with his family after a month’s gap. “For so many days, I was busy campaigning, so...today I called up my relatives and we had lunch together,” Mishra added.

Congress’ Krishna Tirath spent the day chatting with her daughters and granddaughter.

Veteran Congress leader and candidate from North East Delhi JP Agarwal spent the morning taking feedback from area MLAs, party workers and volunteers. He thanked them for their support. Later in the day he relaxed with his family. New Delhi candidate Ajay Maken spent his entire day at home. “He rested at home and got together with his family,” Maken’s close aide said.
