Meanwhile, SP supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav on Saturday said he would appeal to the Election Commission (EC) to lift the ban on senior minister Azam Khan, who is under fire for his remarks about Muslim soldiers’ role in Kargil conflict. BAN WRONG: MINORITY PANEL
Newly appointed UP minority commission chairman and two other members on Saturday said that the decision of the Election Commission to ban public rallies and road shows of urban development minister Mohd Azam Khan was wrong.
Chairman Shakil Ahmad, members Nafisul Hasan and Suhail Ayub Zinjani said, in a statement, that Khan had sent a reply to the commission before the deadline. But without taking the reply into consideration, the commission announced ban on Khan, “which is not right.”
