LUCKNOW: Amid heightening political activity, Urdu and Hindi poets from across the country would assemble in the state capital on Tuesday evening to make an appeal for communal amity as well as urge people to cast their vote. In the presence of religious leaders from all the communities, poets like Manzar Bhopali, Hasan Qazmi, Tariq Qamar, Jauhar Kanpuri, Mukul Mahan and Aamir Mukhtar among various others would be reciting couplets for a cause. Aamir Mukhtar, who would be anchoring the poetic symposium at Raj Garden on Mohaan Road said, “As electioneering gathers momentum, we wish to prevail upon people to maintain communal amity at all costs. It is also equally important for all to participate in the elections by casting their vote. That is the objective behind this poetic symposium.”

Somesh Vardhan Singh, who is the part of organising committee, said, “There is no political motive behind this exercise. The Rajajipuram traders’ body thought of it simply because poets are able to strike an instant connect with the audience.”

Umesh Kumar, head of Rajajipuram traders’ body, said Mahant Divya Giri of Mankamneshwar temple along with Maulana Khalid Rasheed Firangimahal, the naib imam of Eidgah, Mahant Bajrangdas of Hanumangarhi, Sitapur, Gyani Lakhvinder Singh from Alambagh gurudwara and priest Shailendra Das of Assembly of Believers’ Church would be present on the occasion.

“These religious leaders sharing a common stage will highlight the message of communal amity. They will also be felicitated on the occasion,” Kumar said.
