VARANASI: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has denied seeking Quami Ekta Dal’s (QED) support for party convener Arvind Kejriwal who is contesting against BJP PM candidate Narendra Modi from Varanasi. “We never requested the Quami Ekta Dal for support. Any such news is baseless. AAP is contesting general election on issues,” AAP leader Manish Sisodia told newsmen here on Sunday. Sisodia and another party leader Sanjay Singh are in Varanasi to campaign for Kejriwal.

Elaborating on party’s strategy in their fight against Modi, Singh said, “Those who want Narendra Modi’s defeat will vote for Arvind Kejriwal.”

Replying to a query on party’s agenda for Varanasi, Sisodia said: “The AAP will issue a separate manifesto for Varanasi. This will include pollution in the Ganga, poor civic condition of the city, power supply and issue of weavers.”

The AAP leaders also attacked the BJP for playing communal politics. “The BJP plays divisive politics which is detrimental to the entire country. People must vote against the BJP to ensure victory of secular forces,” Sanjay Singh said. He also claimed that Kejriwal would emerge victorious from Varanasi by a margin of over one lakh votes.

Attacking opponents, Sisodia stated that Kejriwal was fighting corrupt politicians and criminals who are active in politics.

“People all across the country admire Arvind Kejriwal for his honesty and fight against corruption in the society,” Sisodia said.

Replying to a query, AAP leaders held the Bharatiya Janata Party responsible for attacks on Arvind Kejriwal across the country.

“BJP is behind attacks on Arvind Kejriwal. All incidents of attack on the AAP convener must be investigated,” Sisodia demanded.
