Meerut taking social network route to lodge civic complaints
MEERUT: Social networking sites have come as an effective and alternate gateway for the people of the walled city to register their grievances and reach district’s top bosses.
Following the instructions of the state government to utilise the power of social media and technology for effective governance, newly incumbent district magistrate Pankaj Yadav has created an exclusive page on facebook and a dedicated e-mail account to provide people a direct gateway to reach out to him with their problems and suggestions.
Though the page was created soon after Yadav was posted here on February 27, but nothing much could be done because Yadav was once again transferred during the Lok Sabha elections. Both the accounts have become operational once again from June 9 after reposing of Yadav as district magistrate.
The idea has found thumping appreciation from the people, as evident from the fact that so far 972 persons have liked the Facebook page, with the link www.facebook.com/dmmeerut. The official email id of the Meerut administration is collectormeerut@gmail.com.
“The idea behind using the social networking sites was to provide people an effective platform to address their complaints and to appraise them about different welfare policies being run by the state government,” said DM Pankaj Yadav.
He assured that the queries of people would be replied immediately with utmost clarity and transparency.
