Now, skill development lectures for KGMU teachers
LUCKNOW: Soon, King George’s Medical University teachers will be sharpening their clinical skills and enriching their vocabulary with the help of specially designed skill development lectures.
The KGMU administration has planned to conduct skill development classes for the faculty and resident doctors. These classes will help develop clinical aspects in terms of decision-making (surgery, treatment etc) and will focus behavioural aspect of doctors that often result in to affray with patients or their attendants.
“There is a lot in store in skill development. It shall make a positive impact upon how we work and how we talk. I think our faculty will benefit in both the ways once they go through skill development training,” said prof Ravi Kant, vice chancellor KGMU.
The lessons are being designed keeping in view the type of work that is done on the campus. The different stages of patient care, academics (lectures and demonstrations) are being considered while finalizing the skill development lessons. Sharing the idea behind such a step the vice chancellor said the doctors here are always under tremendous pressure and workload. Also the pressure to perform in academics and research is also there which at times makes a negative impact upon their personality. Therefore the skill development is being introduced to help them deal with workload and pressure both.
In the past KGMU had introduced Yoga classes for students, to help them increase their concentration levels. Those classes were run in the morning before the class timings but later on they were withdrawn.
