DERBY: Stuart Binny staked a serious claim after scoring an impressive half-century on the second day of India’s warm-up game against Derbyshire here on Wednesday. With India 200/5 after Cheteshwar Pujara had made 81 (retired out), Binny and Jadeja took the team closer to 300 before Jadeja was dismissed for 45. Binny, with 81 not out, eventually saw to it that Derbyshire’s first-innings total of 326 was overhauled.

Earlier, openers Murali Vijay and Shikhar Dhawan failed as the struggling visitors had to look upto Pujara and Virat Kohli (36) who both put on 63 for the third wicket. Pujara then put on 116 with skipper MS Dhoni (46).

LONDON: All-rounder Ben Stokes was recalled by England in a 13-man squad for next week’s first Test against India at Trent Bridge, with national selector James Whitaker saying the 23-year-old had the “X factor”.

Stokes was the only addition to the 12-man party chosen for England’s recent 1-0 loss to Sri Lanka. Stokes was not chosen for that short campaign while he regained full fitness following an embarrassingly self-inflicted wrist injury. So angry was Stokes at being dismissed for a golden duck against the WI in Barbados, he punched a dressing room locker and promptly broke a bone in his hand.
