Jailed criminal had plans to kill Allahabad lawyer

-

LUCKNOW: A dreaded criminal, Ankit Dubey, lodged in the district jail here had hatched a conspiracy to kill an Allahabadbased advocate, Arun Mishra and his lawyer son Deepak. Special Task Force (STF) sleuths made this revelation after the arrest of one Mahendra Singh alias ‘Chhotu’ near Khusrobagh gate in Allahabad on Thursday.

A 32-bore pistol and two live cartridges were recovered from Chhotu who was to hand these over to the shooters hired for the killing, said the sleuths.

They said Chhotu’s arrest had foiled the plan of a sensational crime in Allahabad. Ankit had planned the attack after some monetary dispute with the father-son duo. During interrogation, Chhotu revealed that he wanted to hand over the weapon to the shooters who came from Lucknow. He was doing this on the direction of one Rahul Singh, who along with jailed criminal Ankit, had planned to kill the sen- ior advocate and his son, said S Anand, ASP, STF.

The ‘murder strategy’ was prepared by Ankit, when he met Rahul in Lucknow around a month ago.

The ASP said Ankit was friends with the advocate’s younger son Mogali. The duo was accused of murdering dreaded criminal Ashish Mishra and his aide Rohit Shukla in Lucknow on January 29 this year.

The police had stated that Ankit planned the murder, as Mogali apprehended that Ashish could attack his advocate father and brother. Ashish too had a monetary dispute with Mogali’s father and elder brother, said Anand. Ankit believed that he had to go jail in the double murder case because of Mogali and the latter managed to get away with the support of his father and son, said the ASP.

After this, Ankit wanted to settle scores and also had monetary dispute with the father-son duo, following which he hatched the entire conspiracy, said Anand. He hired two shooters through Rahul and sent them to Allahabad to execute the killing, added the ASP.
