Cong to counter BJP in Kanth, hold peace march
The state Congress has decided to counter the BJP movement in Kanth in Moradabad. Even as the BJP has given a call for agitation in Kanth on July 26, the Congress has also decided to organise a march on the same day in the town.
Talking to mediapersons here on Thursday, Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC) president Dr Nirmal Khatri said the peaceful march was aimed at exposing BJP’s communal design and the state government’s utter failure in ensuring law and order there.
Khatri added that the BJP had been desperately trying to vitiate communal atmosphere in the state and the government here was a mute spectator.
“The BJP is trying to create Muzaffarnagar type situation in Kanth,” Khatri said and added the Congress would peacefully counter it. The party has also planned statewide peace march at the district headquarter on August 9 to protest against the BJP. Expressing concern over drought-like situation in the state, the UPCC has also decided to hold dharnas all over the state on July 24.
He said that the party would strictly monitor membership drive, which would continue till December 31.
