6-YR-OLD’S RAPE IN SCHOOL SPARKS OUTCRY, VIOLENCE

In a horrific incident, a six-year-old girl student was allegedly raped in a public school, triggering severe protests from outraged parents who stormed the institutio­n, demanding action against the guilty, suspecting involvemen­t of the staffers.

The girl was allegedly raped by “unknown persons” at Vibgyor High School, which came to light on July 15, joint commission­er of police (law and order- east) K V Sharat Chandra said. Chandra said the girl was sent for medical examinatio­n and the forensic science laboratory report was awaited. A probe was underway and no arrests had been made so far, he said. “We are still making inquiry,” additional commission­er of police (crime) Pranab Mohanty said.

HRD MIN ‘CONCERNED’

The HRD ministry has expressed deep concern about the security of children in schools in view of media reports of molestatio­n of a child inside a Bangalore school.

Karnataka has also been requested to send a detailed report as to how the school failed to honour the requiremen­ts of safety and security of children within schools.
