JOHNNY WINTER
Texas blues legend dies at 70 in a hotel room in Zurich on Wednesday
1 Winter was known for his lightningfast blues guitar riffs and his collaborations with Jimi Hendrix
2 He was a leading light among the white blues guitar players, including Eric Clapton and the late Stevie Ray Vaughan, who followed in the footsteps of the earlier Chicago blues masters.
3 Not just his fast blues solos, but his addiction problems with heroin during 70s and later battles with alcohol and prescription medication, also drew attention.
4 He was inducted into the Blues Foundation Hall of Fame in 1988. Rolling Stone magazine named Winter one of the top 100 guitarists of all time.
