LUCKNOW: About 50 exam centres have been changed for the Combined Pre-Medical Test2014 slated on July 20 across 15 districts in the state. Most of the centres that have been changed are in Allahabad and Lucknow.

The step has been taken to ensure a fair exam, which was earlier cancelled on June 22 when the Ghaziabad district administration sounded what turned out to be a false alarm over a paper leak on the basis of incorrect information.

The exam is the gateway to MBBS and BDS seats in the staterun medical institutes. As many as 109,219 candidates will take the exam at 213 centres.

"Some of the centres have been changed on the basis of a revision exercise," said AK Singh, controller of examination, at the King George's Medical University (KGMU) that is conducting the prestigious exam.

Singh has appealed to candidates, whose centres are located in areas where Ramzan or kanwariya processions are likely to be taken out, to give themselves

additional time to reach the centre so that they are not late for the exam.

On June 22, the administrative officials had claimed boxes containing question papers were tampered with and hence it was a paper leak. The KGMU representative, who was present on the spot along with administrative officials, accepted the reasoning. But a day later, the special task force of the police declared there was no paper leak.

The KGMU administration is taking no chances this time and has increased the number of city in-charges and examiners.

In-charges of half-a-dozen cities, where the exam is to be conducted, have already been sent there. The special focus is on Ghaziabad.
