Lucknow to get seven new substations soon
Lucknow will get two 132 Kv and five 33 /11 KV substations to get rid of the problem of overloading in the localities like Hazratganj, Hanuman Setu, Daliganj, Indira Nagar, Rajajipuram, Takrohi and Arjunganj. This would also boost the distribution infrastructure of Lucknow Electricity Supply Administration (LESA) and residents would not have to face load shedding due to overloaded substations.
Chief secretary Alok Ranjan, in a review meeting of the power corporation on Saturday, directed to set up two mega substations of 132 KV at Indira Nagar and Hanuman Setu within a year as city needs to overcome the overloading problem. These two substations would handle 200 MV load. As a result, the substations of Mahanagar, Vikas Nagar, Darulshafa, Indira Nagar sector 14 would be relieved.
Five 33 KV substations would be constructed at Radhagram, Ashiana, Noorbadi, Rajajipuram and Takrohi in Indira Nagar. Around 15 lakh population of these areas would get a big relief from power cuts. These five substations would be completed within eight months.
The chief secretary directed the officials of Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation in other cities too to come up with a plan to construct substations to counter the problem of overloading.
Alok Ranjan directed the engineers of the power corporation to get the units of Pareecha and Anpara repaired which are closed due to technical glitch.
Principal secretary energy Sanjay Agarwal gave details about the ongoing UPPCL drive against power theft and new connections being issued in the state.
He said that upto July 18 , UPPCL had given 83,700 new connections. Around 1.31 lakh consumers had got their load increased. Around 78,000 slow meters were replaced with new accurate electronic meters.
Meanwhile, FIR has been lodged against 9,000 consumers for power theft.
During the ongoing drive in Lucknow on Saturday, LESA made a record by giving 3,844 new connections while load was increased in 1,669 houses, new meters were installed in 416 houses and 5 meters were found running slow.
