RSS man to be Modi’s Kashi representative
The BJP leadership has zeroed in on a Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) pracharak to be Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s representative in his parliamentary constituency Varanasi.
Though state BJP chief Laxmikant Bajpai had recently stated Modi’s representative would be a local person, the central leadership of the party has decided to appoint an outsider to the coveted post with Modi’s consent. The BJP leadership, however, is yet to officially announce the name of Modi’s representative.
Meanwhile, Modi convened a meeting at his residence in New Delhi on Saturday to take stock of Varanasi’s development projects. Varanasi mayor Ram Gopal Mohle, all three BJP MLAs from the temple town and senior leaders of the party also attended the meeting. Modi had expressed his desire to make Kashi one of the cleanest cities on May 17.
