Carry out investigation on CBI pattern, IG tells cops
KANPUR: Inspector general of police (IGP) Ashutosh Pandey has asked police officials to investigate into the Jyoti murder case on the pattern of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
For this, half-a-dozen skilled cops, including three station heads and in-charge of crime branch and surveillance cell, have been roped in for the probe and each of them assigned with a specific task.
It has also been decided to make criminal FIRs under relevant sections against cops found guilty of botching-up probe and shielding the accused. They would be charged if they attempted to tamper the evidences.
Pandey said Kohna’s station officer Poonam Awasthi would procure close circuit television (CCTV) footages and images.
Moolganj’s station head Hari Shankar Mishra has been asked to lead the recovery operation and make legal formalities. Shahi Bushan Mishra, SO Kakadev, will help in legal proceeding and coordinate with the concerning court to ensure the guilty are convicted and get maximum possible punishment.
Incharge of crime branch Devendra Yadav has been told to assist Swaroop Nagar police in collecting evidences from crime scene and accompanying them in performing raids to detain suspects.
Crime branch’s sub-inspector Akhilesh Gaur would help in exploring call details and procuring electronic evidences to strengthen the case against Piyush and others.
Moreover, surveillance cell head VP Shukla has been tasked with assisting chief investigator and top officials and provide all scientific and surveillance-related evidences to establish the involvement of arrested persons in the crime.
All these officials have been asked to put their work in writing and hand it over to chief investigator Shiv Kumar Singh Rathore who will incorporate it in his case diary (CD).
