SUV-borne youths held for ‘misbehavin­g’ with girl

LUCKNOW: Four SUV-bor ne youths, including a real estate firm owner, were arrested for allegedly chasing and passing lewd remarks at a schoolgirl near the Golf Club crossing here on Tuesday morning.

Though the accused tried to mount pressure on cops by flaunting their “political connection­s”, the police arrested them and seized their vehicle after registerin­g an FIR against them with the Gautampall­i police station. The four accused were identified as Madhvendra Singh Yadav, his two associates - Kuldeep Singh, Shailendra Kumar - and his driver Arvind Kumar. Madhvendra runs a real estate firm and has his office at Gokhale Marg. His father is associated with a political party.

According to reports, the incident took place when the schoolgirl was crossing the Bandariyab­agh crossing around 11.30 am. The youths were also passing from there at that time and passed lewd remarks while overtaking the girl’s scooty. They even threw a cigarette butt on the girl when she confronted them.

Circle officer of Hazratganj, Rajesh Srivastava said the incident took place in full public view. After seeing people gathering at the spot, the youths tried to escape but by then the cops were alerted and the four were intercepte­d near Golf Club, he said.

He said the youths were arrested after registerin­g the FIR under sections 354, 323 and 420 of the IPC. They were also charged under 7 Criminal Law Amendment Act for causing nuisance at public place, added the CO.
