TCS IT Wiz to be held on Oct 9

LUCKNOW: The next edition of Lucknow regional finals of Tata Consultanc­y Services (TCS) IT Wiz 2014 will be held on October 9 at Indira Gandhi Pratishtha­n in Gomti Nagar. The event is open for all Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhan­d school students of classes 8-12 (including pre university of junior college students). There is no entry fee. Each institutio­n is allowed to send a large number of teams of two members each to participat­e.

Entries have t o be sent through the respective institutio­ns before October 8, to TCS IT Wiz coordinato­r, Tata Consultanc­y Services, TCS Awadh Park, Vibhuti Khand, Gomti Nagar, Lucknow.

The regional champions this year will walk away with an iPad Air each while the runners-up will be rewarded iPad mini along with a specially designed trophy and medals. The 6 finalists will

also receive an array of prizes from TCS ranging from space pack, sippers, earphones, USB pen drive, speakers, and many more gadgets.

Speaking about the event, Jayant Krishna, regional head, TCS Lucknow said, “The regional finals will have a Twitter contest for all the participan­ts and the top two winners will receive Bluetooth speakers. The twitter contest will also involve a mileage earning system where every tweet will earn a point, tweet with picture 3 points and retweets will fetch 5 points. The student with highest tweet point across the 14 cities will win a trip to Mumbai to witness mega finals of TCS IT Wiz.”

Three questions will appear on the screen and students can tweet their answers to the handle @TCStweetwi­z during the correction break and the top three on first come first serve basis along with all correct answers will receive themselves a ‘boom headphone’ each.

The quiz will mainly focus on applicatio­ns of informatio­n technology across various sectors and aspects including technology environmen­t, the business, people, new trends and legends.

It will also focus on emerging areas such as cloud computing, telecom, biometrics, robotics, world of Internet, unique websites, IT buzzwords and acronyms. The quiz will also cover areas where IT has made an impact.
