CHANDIGARH/GURGAON: Bharatiya Janata Party national president Amit Shah Tuesday kicked up a storm by reportedly accusing Haryana CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda of “dancing to the tune of the Gandhi family”.

Addressing rallies in Haryana, Shah questioned Hooda’s claims of development in the state . “He (Hooda) is danc- ing to the tune of the Gandhis to save his chair ever as farmers get peanuts for the acquired land which is handed over to powerful builders,” Shah said.

“Be it the issue of women security, atrocities on the Dalits, unemployment, the state has done poorly in the ten-year Congress rule,” he added.

The Congress was quick to hit back against Shah. “It’s not in the nature of the people of Haryana to tolerate such foul language against its leaders.... Haryana voters will give a befitting reply to Shah on the day of polling on October 15” said the Haryana Congress spokesperson Ran Singh Mann.

The BJP will make an all-out effort to woo the Haryana electorate with its most successful campaigner, Prime Minister Narendra Modi — when he returns from his US trip. “The prime minister is slated to address as many as 10 rallies across Haryana,” said state party in-charge Jagdish Mukhi. Party sources said that the PM was scheduled to address a rally a day between October 4-10.

Meanwhile, Congress chief Sonia Gandhi will kick off her Haryana tour from the Meham Vidhan Sabha seat on October 4 and will conduct three rallies in the state. The party has also asked for seven public appearances of Rahul Gandhi which are yet to be confirmed.
