LUCKNOW: The state cabinet on Tuesday approved the Uttar Pradesh Rooftop Solar Photovoltaic Power Plant Policy 2014 to encourage setting up of rooftop solar power plants. It also cleared revised costs for the Agra-Lucknow Expressway and gave nod to setting up of a special purpose vehicle (SPV) for the construction of Metro between Noida and Greater Noida.

LUCKNOW: Encouraged by the ‘response’ it has got from the people for its two mega parks in the city, the state government has asked development authorities to emulate the example and develop, similar public parks in their cities.

In a missive to Ghaziabad, Kanpur, Agra, Varanasi, Meerut, Allahabad, Moradabad and Bareilly, principal secretary, housing Sada Kant, has asked them to provide a list of such parks within 15 days.

“Several public parks in these cities are wallowing in neglect. The CM has directed that you should identify one or two such big parks for their proper upkeep and development,” he said in a letter to vice chairmen of these development authorities.

He said a similar initiative here in the development and beautification of Dr Ram Manohar Lohia and Janeshwar Mishra Park had got an overwhelming public response. “The CM wants that public parks in other cities should be identified by the authorities. They should get their development and beautification plan drafted by a consultant expert in the job and outsource their upkeep and maintenance, if there is dearth of staff,” he said.

Care should be taken to focus on soft landscaping and development of jogging/cycle tracks, pathways and construction work should be kept to the minimum while undertaking these parks’ makeover, the missive points out.
