ONE DEAD, THREE INJURED IN MUZ’NAGAR CLASH
MUZAFFARNAGAR: One person died and three were seriously injured in a clash between two groups belonging to different communities on Thursday. A dispute over the construction of a small conduit on the road in Tigari village triggered the flare-up. Police had to face strong resistance of villagers when they tried to seize the body and send it for post mortem examination.
According to sources, a person from one community has his ancestral house in Tigari village. A ramp has been constructed from the street to the podium of this house. Now that the construction of roadside drains in the village is underway, this man insisted that the contractor should construct the roadside drain in such a way that the ramp of his house was not damaged. On the other hand, another man of another community, who lives just opposite, suggested that the roadside drain must be constructed in a routine manner, without sparing anyone’s ramp. This triggered a dispute between the two families.
Village sources said that regarding the matter, a panchayat of prominent villagers was also held on Wednesday evening and members of both families were ready to settle the dispute with mutual consent.
But on Thursday, at about 7.30 in the mor ning, once again a quarrel started over the construction of the drain. Meanwhile, supporters of both the groups reached the spot and soon heavy brickbatting started from both the sides.
Both groups also used firearms and targeted each other. As a result, one person, who was a doctor by profession, died on the spot while two others received serious injuries.
