It is futile to expect a paradigm shift in strategy from Pakistan
This has reference to the editorial Astrategy that can only fail ( Our Take, November 6). It is too much to expect Pakistan to effect a paradigm shift in its internal and external strategies. Patronising terrorists, both at home and in relation to India, has been its state policy. Only citizens of Pakistan defy the policy of the leadership and opt for friendship with India. The terrorists have not reconciled themselves to the end of Muslim hegemony in this subcontinent. Pakistan has also lost considerable clout in Afghanistan. The Pentagon’s recent remarks should not be taken lightly by Pakistan. India must be restrained in its responses but it should be made clear that it will not barter its self-respect and integrity.
