Modi should keep his promises: Maya

LUCKNOW : Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati on Saturday said instead of making promises to the people, Prime Minister Narendra Modi should take concrete measures for the welfare of the poor, especially the farmers, youth, women and the suppressed class.

Reacting to Modi’s visit to Varanasi, Mayawati claimed social justice was not on the Prime Minister’s agenda. “He should fulfill the promises made to the voters during the Lok Sabha election campaign,” she said while addressing party leaders.

“Instead of taking measures to check inflation, power supply to the rural areas and allotment of houses to the poor people, Modi is indulging in symbolic gestures. No measure has been taken to bring back the black money deposited in foreign banks. He has misguided the weavers’ community over a package to the cooperative banks,” she added.

Mayawati directed the party MLAs to raise issues associated with the welfare of the people in the legislative assembly session commencing from November 14. The BSP MLAs would not rush into the well of the house or disrupt the proceeding of the assembly but would turn the spotlight on the allegedly “anti-people policies” of the Samajwadi Party government.
