PREZ ENHANCES EDUCATION TIES WITH BHUTAN
THIMPHU: In his two-day state visit to Bhutan, President Pranab Mukherjee brought the education sector to the forefront of the vibrant Indo-Bhutan friendship.
Mukherjee announced a slew of sops and flagged off the muchawaited education reforms programme. New Delhi enhanced the value of the Indian ambassador scholarship fund from ` 1 crore per annum to ` 2 crore.
“Education has been an important priority for Bhutan. We have and will continue to offer seats in India’s educational institutes to Bhutanese friends,” he said.
IIM-Ahmedabad signed a MoU with Royal Service Commission of Bhutan for quality training of Bhutanese public servants. “This is the first such effort of an IIM with a SAARC country,” IIM professor Anil Gupta said.
The Royal University also signed two MoUs with the National Innovation Foundation and the English and Foreign Languages university.
