Congress tried to hide 2G licence mistakes: BJP
NEW DELHI: The BJP called for mer finance minister P Chidamabram’s comments that the Manmohan Singh-led UPA should have cancelled the 2G licences “a matter of grave concern”, wondering if this meant the Congress had tried to hide its mistakes.
“When the former FM said the then Congress government had committed mistakes, it only points to the fact that the Congress had tried to hide its errors,” BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra said.
Chidambaram had on Friday said he had advised cancelling the 2G licences after the scandal broke out but the PM did not heed his advice. “The Prime Minister could have put his foot down,” he said.
On a back foot, the Congress, however, tried to downplay the comment, saying it should be taken “holistically”.
