SYDNEY: Andre Agassi’s former wife Brooke Shields disclosed the reason why the tennis star destroyed his trophies in a fit of rage.
Shields was filming a guest stint for the popular American television series ‘Friends’ in 1995 when she was dating Agassi and was required to lick the fingers of Matt le Blanc’s character, Joey.
In her latest autobiography ‘There Was A Little Girl: The Real Story of Mother and Me’, Shields wrote Agassi stormed off the set while watching it.
Agassi later told her that had made him look like a fool. He got in his car in Los Angeles and drove four hours to Las Vegas.
She further wrote that on arrival, he systematically destroyed every single trophy he had won, including Wimbledon and the US Open, never mind all the others.
Agassi won Wimbledon in 1992.
However, despite the 1995 incident, Shields went on to marry Agassi two years later that she has claimed was a mistake.
Shields wrote that she could not form a sentence, adding she kept shaking her

head as if she had duct tape across her mouth. It hit her all of a sudden, she knew she had made a mistake.
Shields did not want to be married, adding that she wanted to be a bride but shouldn’t have been married yet. It was only well into the marriage that Agassi told her that for the whole first part of their relationship he had been addicted to crystal meth. Shields and Agassi divorced in 1999 and he started dating Steffi Graf soon after. Shields married TV writer Chris Henchy, with whom she has two daughters.
