CBSE introduces new tool to track progress of schools, students
LUCKNOW: Schools affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will now be able to get a clear understanding of their position and ranking vis-à-vis other CBSE schools across the nations. This is courtesy Saransh-- a new tool introduced by the board that provides for self-review and scope for improvement.
As the name suggests, Saransh (meaning summary) provides schools a comprehensive drill down analysis of its performance on various counts and diagnose the scope of improvement in students, teachers, subjects and schools.
Based on the performance of students from Classes 9-12 in the Continuous and Comprehensive evaluation (CCE) and Problem Solving Assessments (PSA), schools and their students would be rated on academic and co-curricular performance. A comprehensive picture of Class 10 since 2007 and Class 12 performances since 2009 can be drawn as well.
All the performance metrics are presented through numbers as well as in charts and graphs. A powerful tool, Saransh will help schools compare their performance vis-à-vis all CBSE schools at various levels -- all India, regional, state and within their school category.
Heads of schools would be provided with an affiliation ID and a password with which they can calculate the performance of their school in comparison with others in the region and the country.
“As of now, the tool is meant only for schools and children. Later, it will be extended to parents as well who can then use the tool to understand their child’s development and learning process,” said Vineet Joshi, chairman, CBSE, adding that schools and teachers would need a good understanding of the system before circulating information about individual performances.
