St Fidelis in soccer semi-finals
LUCKNOW: St Fidelis College scored a t hrilling 4- 3 win against La Martinere College through tie-breaker to make it to the semi-finals of the Chitransh Singh Memorial Inter-School Football Tournament, at the Chowk stadium here on Sunday.
The two teams were locked in 1-1 draw at the end of the regulation time, but in the tiebreaker St Fidelis proved their worth in style.
Maharani Laxmi Bai (Barabanki), DPS Indira Nagar and Calvin College too made it to the semi-finals, notching up contrasting wins. The semifinals are slated to be played on Monday.
On Sunday, DPS (Indira Nagar) scored 2-0 win against Millennium School. Naman opened the account in the 20th minute from the right flank (1-0), while Ansh scored in the 45th minute after a change in ends (2-0).
Though Kendriya Vidyalaya (AMC) posed tough challenge for Maharani Laxmi Bai (Barabanki) in the third match of the day, they went down fighting by 8-9 in tie-breaker. None of the side could break the ice in the regulation time. CAL TRIUMPH Cricket Association Lucknow defeated District Cricket Association (DCA), Hardoi by 36 runs to make it to the next round of the Inter-District Under -16 Cricket Tournament, at the Sports Stadium in Unnao on Sunday.
Batting f i rst after winning the toss, CAL scored 142 in 25.3 overs. In reply, Vipul Rao bowled a deadly spell to take 4/30 as DCA Hardoi collapsed for paltry 106 in 26.1 overs.
For CAL, Vipul Rao was the wraecker-in-chief, bagging four wickets, whereas Chandresh Kumar bagged 2/16 and was later adjuged man-of-the-match.
