CII-YI and SRM Group score easy victories

LUCKNOW: Ritesh Sood’s fourwicket haul helped hosts CII-YI notched up a facile four-wicket win against Pernord Ricard India XI to collect full points in a low-scoring game of the CII-Young Indians Corporate Cricket Cup Tournament, at the Ram Swaroop Engineerin­g College ground here on Sunday.

Sood conceded just eight runs in his three overs quota to take four wickets as Pernord Ricard India XI collapsed for paltry 52, which included 14 extra runs in 11.1 overs after being sent to bat first by the rival skipper.

Besides Ritesh, seam bowler Kamal Yadav too took 2/12, whereas Anshul Garg, Siddarth Ahuja and Gaurav Prakash shared three wickets between them.

For CII-YI, it remained mere formality in reply, as they romped home in 11 overs with four wickets in hand. Pratish Mahjan had 4/13 for the losers.

Contrary to this, the other match of the day saw SRM Group scoring a thumping 94-run win against Proplarity. Chasing 173 to win in the stipulated 20 overs, Proplarity could score 9/78 with Mirza Faheem (25) and Ratnesh Kushwaha (25) attaining the double figure mark.

Vivek Singh remained the most successful bowler for the winners, bagging 4/15, whereas Piyush Agarwal had 2/2.

Earlier, Dhruv Saxena slammed 42-ball 55, which contained four boundaries and two sixes as SRM Group piled up 4/172 in 20 overs after being sent to bat first. Aarohan Singh (47, 32b, 7x4) along with Piyush Agarwal (9) added 66-run for the opening wicket, before Dhruv stitching together 69-run for the third-wicket with Aarohan.
