Three traders held for attacking LDA team

LUCKNOW: A group of traders attacked the team of Lucknow Developmen­t Authority (LDA) when it went to seal an illegally constructe­d three-storey building on Subhash Marg in Wazirganj on Saturday afternoon. Later, the police arrested three traders after registerin­g an FIR against them. Those arrested were identified as Shashank Mittal, Shubham Mittal and Gopal Agarwal.

The incident took place when the LDA team, headed by assistant engineer GC Sharma and junior engineer Sanjay Nigam, went to seal the building as per the order of the LDA secretary at around 1.40 pm. Nigam told the cops that the three accused who were in the building had a heated argument with the team.

“We showed the orders to seal the building when they did not allow us to enter the building. Shashank Mittal, who is the owner of the building, get violent and tore the copy of the orders handed to him. The trio then used abusive language and manhan-

dled the team members,” said Nigam. “The trio even called some other people and surrounded the team. We were rescued after the interventi­on of some police personnel accompanyi­ng us”, he said.

Nigam said the trio misbehaved with the police present there too and tried to escape when additional police force rushed to the spot after getting informatio­n about the incident. He said the trio would have harmed the team members had the police not intervened timely.

Station officer (SO ) of Wazirganj police station Abhinav Singh Pundir said the trio had been arrested after registerin­g an FIR against them for manhandlin­g, misbehavin­g and barring a public servant from performing his duty. He said the building had been sealed in the presence of heavy police force.
