LUCKNOW: From being a conglomerate of crafts, cuisine and culture, the Lucknow Mahotsav this year has taken a huge leap into the world of Android, 3-D screens and drone cameras.

For the first time in 39 years, since it was first held in 1975, visitors can skip ticketing queues outside Regional Park in Ashiana - the venue for the festival - and instead book a spot online. Patrons will also have an option to witness the Mahotsav from home by just downloading the ‘Lucknow Mahotsav’ mobile application.

Designed by ‘Think’ computers, the app was inaugurated by divisional commissioner Mahesh Gupta on Saturday, along with the Mahotsav’s official poster and theme song. “The mobile application can be downloaded free of charge by android phone users from the Google Play Store. The application, bearing an image of the iconic Rumi Gate, will not only connect users to the Mahotsav official website but also allow one to browse through the latest images of the cultural extravaganza by clicking onto the ‘gallery’ icon,” an official said.

The app would provide ‘updates’ about the activities going on at the mahotsav. It also has ‘e-ticketing’ and ‘maps’ option to guide visitors through the venue. “Netizens can click on the e-ticketing option here or on the Mahotsav website www. lucknowmahotsav.in and purchase e-tickets by paying the token R 10 entry charge through net bank- ing, debit or credit cards,” the official said.

What more? Those wanting to be a part of the mega event through the 12 days can opt for ‘seasonal tickets’.
